2.0 magnitude earthquake reported near Pageland, SC Friday

A 2.0 magnitude earthquake occurred near Pageland, S.C. on Friday around 2:52 AM, says the United States Geological Survey. 

According to the U.S. Geological Survey, since at least 1776, people living inland in North & South Carolina have felt small earthquakes and suffered damage from larger infrequent ones. The largest earthquake in the area occurred in 1916 and was a magnitude 5.1.

Moderately damaging earthquakes strike the inland Carolinas every few decades, and smaller earthquakes are felt about once each year or two.
