2 arrested, 1 sought in string of crimes in south Charlotte

Two suspects have been taken into custody in connection to several crimes that took place early Tuesday morning, and third suspect has been charged. 

Around 2:30 a.m. on Tuesday, December 11, officers were called to The Reserve Apartments in the 5900 block of Providence Rd. in reference to three men going into cars in the parking lot.

Officers detained Christian McManus, 19, at the scene and determined that the other two suspects had fled and were not far.

While searching the area, officers observed a Dodge Caravan with no headlights on leave a driveway near the scene. They tried to stop the car, but the driver of the vehicle kept going.

While following the car, the owner of the Caravan called police to report it stolen.

The driver of the stolen vehicle then pulled over, and he and a passenger jumped and ran from officers. A K9 was able to track down the driver, Jamarius Allen, and officers took him into custody. He was taken to a hospital with a minor injury from a dog bite.

McManus and Allen were interviewed by detectives. They were then transported to the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office.

McManus is charged with eight counts of Breaking/Entering of a Motor Vehicle.

Allen is charged with eight counts of Breaking/Entering of a Motor Vehicle, Larceny of a Motor Vehicle, and Resist/Delay/Obstruct.

Warrants have been sought for the third suspect in this case.
