2 arrested after illegal marijuana grow found at Rowan County home

Two people have been arrested after deputies caught them conducting an illegal marijuana growing operation in their Rowan County home. 

On Wednesday, April 4, detectives with the Rowan County Sheriff’s Office CID and Spencer Police responded to 100 Apartment A after they were tipped off that folks inside were operating a clandestine indoor marijuana grow.

A search warrant for the apartment was obtained. Detectives discovered seven medium-sized marijuana plants growing in a confined space inside the home. High intensity lights and a cooling system had also been installed to cultivate the marijuana plants.

Cori Brooks Mayhew, 25, and Zachary Lance, 28, have been charged with manufacturing a controlled substance, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Lance received a $5,000 secured bond and Mayhew received a $50,000 secured bond due to a previous bond on unrelated charges.
