2-year-old boy found dead in car in Rock Hill

Rock Hill police are investigating after a 2-year-old died Sunday.

Officers say they found the child, now identified as Lamartray Adams Jr., unresponsive after being called about 4:40 p.m. to an apartment in the 1000 block of Glendarden Drive.

The child was rushed to Piedmont Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

"He was outside for a long time. We seen him in the car. We tried to bust the windows, and it wasn’t working, and they tried CPR," said neighbor Emanie Ervin, who found the 2-year old boy in the car.

Ervin believes the little boy had been in the locked car for more than an hour. She says the little boy got out of his apartment after his father fell asleep. She says the boy's father woke up from a nap and came outside frantic, realizing the 2-year-old was no longer in the apartment.

It's unclear at this time what caused the child's death. The York County Coroner's Office is working with the Rock Hill Police Department on the investigation.
