20-year-old brain dead after accident on 485

A 20-year-old was thrown from his SUV after a horrific crash Thursday night.

The victim is now brain dead and on life support until his parents arrive from New England, according to highway patrol.

Police have not released the victim's name but he was a student from Wake Forest University in town for a job interview.

Highway patrol says somehow he got distracted and over-corrected a turn causing him to flip several times.

He was not wearing a seat belt.

The west Charlotte wreck caused the inner loop of 485 to be closed for several hours.
