3 suspects arrested in connection to Gaston Co. homicide

Three suspects have been arrested in connection to a 2017 Gaston County murder, according to Gaston County Police. 

Doris Maribel Alvarado-Peraza, 27, Maynor Hernan Ortega, 33, and Elmer Alexander Lopez, 31, are all in custody following an investigation into the murder of  28-year-old Miguel Angel Valle Romero.

Around 12:20 p.m. on Dec. 22, Romero's body was found at the end of Sawbill Ln. in the Mallard Crossing neighborhood off Crowders Creek Rd. by a man and his son. Authorities say further details surrounding cause of death cannot be released at this time.

Lopez was taken into custody on Tuesday at a residence in the 5800 block of Orr Rd. by Gaston County Police detectives with the assistance of the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police. 

Alvarado-Peraza and Ortega were found and arrested on Friday, Jan. 5, in Jeff Davis County, GA where they will remain awaiting extradition back to Gaston County.

 All three suspects were arrested without incident.

Alvarado-Peraza is charged with first degree murder in the case. Lopez and Ortega are charged in connection to the homicide.
