$5M worth of cocaine found during traffic stop in North Carolina

Two men from Miami, Florida were arrested in Johnston County, North Carolina when deputies found $5 million worth of cocaine in their possession, WTVD reports.

A tractor-trailer hauling produce on Interstate-95 near Kenly was pulled over by deputies on Sunday afternoon, Dec. 9  Inside the tractor-trailer, deputies found 110 pounds of cocaine hidden in brown boxes.

WTVD reports that Captain Jeff Caldwell said the drug bust is likely the largest-ever by the Johnston County Sheriff’s Office. Eugenio Carlos Alfonso, 48, and Julio Cesar Rodriguez, 49, were both taken into custody. Both men are from Miami.

Both men face felony charges related to drug trafficking.
