69 charged in Lancaster drug roundup

Lancaster County law enforcement authorities have charged 69 people following a yearlong investigation into drug operations in their county, Sheriff Barry Faile announced Friday.

Two dozen officials fanned out across the country Friday morning arresting 49 of the 69 named in investigative documents. The search continues for the remaining 20 suspects.

Those named in the investigation are accused of charges ranging from drug possession to distribution and trafficking.

"Drug use and the drug trade fuel all sorts of other criminal activity," Sheriff Faile said."It seems that over time the drugs of choice change."

During the course of the operation, officials seized:

  • 139.4 grams of Cocaine
  • 15 grams of Crack Cocaine
  • 201 grams of Marijuana
  • 183 grams of Heroin
  • 43.5 grams of Methamphetamine
  • Two meth labs
  • 488 doses of narcotic prescription medications including Oxycodone, Morphine, Methadone, Xanax, Adderall, and Suboxone.
  • Eleven firearms
  • Two automobiles
  • $13,704.00 in cash

"We are now dealing more with the use and abuse of Heroin and prescription medications," Sheriff Faile said. "Our officers will continue to pursue intelligence and complaints about drug offenses and arrest those who violate our drug laws."

The investigation is ongoing and anyone with additional information is asked to call the Lancaster County Sheriff's Office at 803-283-3388.
