Arrest made in Caldwell County armed robbery at Pappy's Market

The Caldwell County Sheriff's Office arrested a 20-year-old man in connection to a reported armed robbery at a Lenoir store. 

The robbery happened around 7 a.m. Thursday, March 15 shortly after the business, Pappy's Market, opened on Dudley Shoals Road. 

Isaiah Monty Simmons, 20, came into the store carrying a long rifle and took property before forcing the clerk into a back room. He then fled the scene in a a white sedan.

“It was the determination of the residents to protect their community that helped give us the information we needed. Our investigators and patrol division worked together seamlessly to solve this case," Captain Aaron Barlowe said. 

As patrol officers approached Simmons' house, they saw him get into his car and drive off at 4:17 p.m. Thursday. Knowing he was driving with a revoked license, officers pulled the car a short distance down Central Dr. After finding suspected drugs, officers searched the vehicle allegedly finding more drugs, as well as a book bag with cash. 

After searching Simmons' home and recovering some of the clothing believed to be worn during the armed robbery, Simmons was arrested. 

Simmons is charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon, false imprisonment, driving while license revoked, and possession of a simple possession of a schedule VI (suspected marijuana) and possession of a schedule II (suspected cocaine and opioids.) 

Simmons is currently being held at the Caldwell County Jail under a $102,000 bond.
