ATM surveillance footage captured the terrifying moments a Loomis Fargo employee was approached on both sides and robbed at gunpoint in broad daylight Thursday, police said.

The robbery occurred at 12:00 p.m. Thursday, March 22 at the Bank of American ATM located at 10060 E. Independence Blvd.

Upon arrival, officers discovered a Loomis Fargo employee had been robbed by two men as he was servicing the ATM.

"It was brazen act. Obviously, to rob someone trained, armed and part of their job that takes it to a whole new level of seriousness for us and concern," said Officer Tim Aycock, the PIO with Matthews PD.

The suspects were described as black males possibly in their 20’s, 5’11” tall, wearing black hoodies and blue jeans, with one having dreadlocks. The suspects were last seen leaving on foot into the nearby woods.

Officers attempted to track the suspects along with CMPD’s helicopter unit and a K-9, as well as a Union County Sheriff’s Office K-9, but they were unable to locate them.

Thankfully, the Loomis Fargo employee was not hurt in this incident.

"I never even considered it," said Tyler Duncan, a regular user of the ATM. "If it happened to me I would be shocked because to me this is open. I know there's woods right there, but to me this is a secure place."
