CHARLOTTE, N.C. (FOX 46 CHARLOTTE) - Governor Roy Cooper and Mecklenburg County leaders announced that tech company AvidXChange will be expanding, bringing more than 1,200 jobs to the area.
Officials say the jobs are expected over a five year period, and once positions are filled, the average annual salary will be $68,000.
The expansion was made possible by a Job Development Investment Grant approved by the NC Economic Investment Committee. The grant will provide a total of $19.6 million dollars over the course of 12 years. The project is expected to grow the state's economy by $2.6 billion.
“We are excited about the expansion of AvidXChange’s headquarters,” said George Dunlap, chairman of the Mecklenburg Board of County Commissioners. “The company’s rapid growth points to future growth for our local economy and workforce. It’s important that we support the growth of companies that relocate to our County and the ones that started here in Mecklenburg County.”
AvidXChange was founded in Charlotte it 2000. They provide customers with finance solutions through accounts payable, purchase order, invoice management and check printing software.
“AvidXchange is a homegrown, Charlotte success story,” said Charlotte Mayor Vi Lyles. “We are developing, attracting and retaining 21st century talent right here in our city, and AvidXchange is proof of our talent-driven economy.”
The NC Technology Association has listed the company among the top 50 fastest-growing private companies in the Charlotte area for six consecutive years.
