Babysitter arrested after leaving 2 kids in a hot car in SC

ROCK HILL, S.C. (AP) — Authorities in Rock Hill have charged a babysitter with unlawful neglect of a child after investigators say she left two small children in a hot car.

The Herald of Rock Hill reports ( police were called to a bank branch after witnesses saw two children, ages 2 and 4, crying in their car seats with no adult supervision. Witnesses called police after they couldn't find a parent or guardian.

Both children were treated at a hospital emergency room. Their mother was contacted.

The police report says 21-year-old Mary Elizabeth Jaynes was found at a job recruiting business, where a worker said she had been for approximately an hour on Friday.

Jaynes is being held without bond in the York County Detention Center. Records don't indicate whether she has an attorney.
