Bridal shop gives gowns away to military brides

A local bridal shop is giving more than just a hand to military brides; they're giving them dresses.

Classic Bride and Formal in Cornelius is participating for the first time this year in Brides Across America.

Brides Across America is an organization that honors military members twice a year, around Fourth of July and Veterans Day.

By partnering with shops, like Classic Bride and Formals, the organization gives away more than 2,000 dresses to military brides each year.

Phaedra Pistone, owner of Classic Bride and Formals, told us they've been fortunate enough to help several brides say yes to the dress.

"Every bride that's came through here, thankfully we've been able to help them with their dress,” said Pistone. “You know, we're making just a lot of fun with it. We're taking pictures, posting them. But it's amazing. It's rewarding to be able to do something and give back to people that do so much for our country."

The brides are given a select number of dresses to choose from based on their size and body type.

Classic bride and formal is one of only two local shops partnering with the organization this year.
