As one of the busiest days to travel this year, Charlotte-Douglas international airport was flooded with people coming back into town on Sunday.

We learned Sunday is the busiest day for holiday travel, in addition to the 100,000 people who connect through charlotte every single day.

Kim Grant does not prefer to travel during the holidays, because she doesn’t like the rush and hectic experience.

“I live in Conover and I like to stay at home where it’s cozy and warm and have family come see me,” she said.

With Christmas less than a month away, people are now prepared to repeat their holiday travel experience.

Sabina Maniyar and her family just got back into town from Toronto and they plan to travel again.

“We’re always waiting and constantly rushing. We don’t feel relaxed when we’re travelling on holidays,” Maniyar said.

Charlotte-Douglas officials say travelers should always plan ahead and arrive early to the airport.

This holiday season, more than 800,000 fliers will have passed through Charlotte-Douglas airport.
