Candlelight service calls for stop to violence

It's been just a few days since 18-year-old Daquan Westbrook was shot, and hundreds gathered on Sunday for a candlelight service calling violence to stop.

Westbrook was killed by an off-duty officer on Christmas Eve.

Officer Thomas Ferguson found Westbrook with a gun and told him to drop it.

That's when police say Westbrook pointed the gun in Ferguson’s direction. Ferguson fired his weapon killing Westbrook.

Police chief Kerr Putney says this all stemmed from an altercation between two groups of people with a history of fighting.

Now, friends and family are asking for support, and for the violence and hate to stop.
