Carjacking turns into police chase outside uptown Charlotte

One of two carjacking suspects is in custody after leading officers on a chase Tuesday outside uptown Charlotte, police said.

Officers were called about 3:49 p.m. to the 2200 block of Caronia Street about a robbery. The victim told officers that he was robbed at gunpoint and that the suspects took his vehicle.

About an hour later, police located the stolen vehicle, but the suspects took off leading police on a chase.

The occupants of the vehicle jumped and ran near the 2300 block of Double Oaks Road.

Police said one person has been detained.

The investigation is still ongoing.
