Chapel Hill Police respond to shooting

A child was seriously hurt after Chapel Hill police officers say they responded to a report of a shooting in the area of 751 Trinity Court in Chapel Hill on Christmas Day, Dec. 25 at 5:43 p.m.

Upon arrival, officers learned that shots had been fired from a vehicle that was leaving the complex. 

The victim, a 1-year-old child, was located on scene and transported to UNC Hospitals, authorities say.

The child underwent surgery overnight and remains in critical condition at UNC Hospitals. 

The investigation is ongoing and anyone with information about this incident is asked to call 911 or Crime Stoppers at 919-942-7515. 

Calls to Crime Stoppers are confidential and anonymous, and the caller may be eligible for a cash reward up to $2,000 for information that leads to an arrest.
