Charges pending against 2 people following restaurant break-ins

Charges are pending against two people following a rash of restaurant break-ins early Monday morning in Huntersville, police said. 

A total of six businesses were hit including Subway, Little Caesar's, Small Cakes, Papa Murphy's, Pinky's and NY Bagel. 

Officers responding to one of the reported burglaries observed a vehicle leaving the area at a high rate of speed. Officers were unable to catch up to the vehicle and lost sight of it on Gilead Rd.

A short time later, police responded to the area of Beatties Ford Rd. and Carrington Pointe Dr. for a single-vehicle collision. Upon arrival, a witness told police all of the people inside the vehicle had fled the scene. A CMPD K-9 unit attempted to track the group.

Officers observed evidence inside the vehicle which appeared to be from the multiple break-ins reported early Monday morning.

Huntersville officers later responded to Tanners Creek Subdivision for two calls referencing two unknown men knocking on doors, asking for rides to Charlotte. Officers were able to locate both men and detain them. 

Huntersville police said both of the men have been identified and criminal charges are pending as the investigation continues.

Huntersville detectives are working with CMPD, the Fort Mill, SC Police Department, and the York County, SC Sheriff's Office due to crimes of a similar nature.
