Charlotte Food Lion becomes scene of human trafficking bust

A local Charlotte grocery store became the scene of a human trafficking bust Tuesday morning, according to Charlotte-Mecklenburg police. 

Officers conducted an undercover sting outside of the Food Lion Supermarket located at 2123 Beatties Ford Road just before 9 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 18. 

During this time, police arrested Gerrald Leon Johnson, 59, and charged hIm with human trafficking, involuntary servitude and assisting prostitution. 

Two female victims, ages 46 and 56, were with Johnson when he was taken into custody and told police that they had been threatened, CMPD said.
