CHARLOTTE, NC (FOX 46 WJZY) - A Charlotte man has been arrested in connection to the kidnapping of a teenage girl from Kentucky.
Kentucky State Police have charged Jonathan Stewart, 41, with kidnapping, contributing to the delinquency of a minor and being a fugitive of justice after 16-year-old Caitlyn Bosley was found with him in Charlotte.
Bosley was reported missing from the Loyall community of Harlan County, KY on March 27 around 5:00 a.m.
Information gathered during the preliminary investigation indicated that on around 4:00 p.m. on March 26 Bosley was last seen by her mother at their home. Her mom left to go to work and when she returned, Bosley was not home.
Bosley's mother attempted to locate her child on her own; but with no success she called police. Using cell phone records and social media data, officers were able to track Bosley and Stewart to Charlotte.
It was later determined that Stewart traveled to Kentucky where he picked up Bosley and brought her back to his home in Charlotte.
With assistance from CMPD detectives, Bosley was found unharmed at Stewart’s home. She was taken into protective custody and released to her family.
Stewart was served with an arrest warrant and extradition order from Kentucky. At this time, Kentucky State Police are awaiting Stewart to be extradited back to Kentucky to face charges.
This case is still under investigation by Kentucky State Police and more criminal charges could be filed.
