Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police are investigating a double murder and suicide that occurred Saturday night in northwest Charlotte.

Authorities said information that was gathered at the scene led officers to respond to a home in the 2100 block of Sebastiani Drive. When officers arrived at the home they located two children, ages 3 and 7, inside suffering from life-threatening injuries. They were immediately transported to CMC Main, where they were pronounced dead by ER staff shortly after arrival.

The initial investigation reveals that the woman assaulted her children before jumping off the bridge. There was no one else inside the residence when officers arrived.
