CHARLOTTE, N.C. (FOX 46 CHARLOTTE) - The Charlotte Rescue Mission offered homemade desserts for neighbors dining there this Easter Sunday.
CEO Tony Marciano took FOX 46 to the kitchen and said Sunday is about far more than food.
“They come for hospitality, the dignity and respect, and the food is just an excuse to lavish God's love on them,” Marciano said,
Sunday's guests were welcomed by a maître D’, a hostess and volunteers wearing bow-ties. They were waited on and served in a way they never expected.
“My mother's line was store bought, but nothing better than homemade desserts.
For two decades now, the community has answered the call, bringing homemade desserts.
“We'll have a volunteer cut them up and ‘say which dessert do you want?’”
Marciano wants Sunday’s guests to feel valued and loved no matter what they are going through.
“My stomach is full, but my heart got touched in a way I never expected,” he said.
