Charlotte, NC - The personal information of an estimated 7,500 Charlotte Mecklenburg School job applicants was breached following an improper data exchange, the district confirmed to Fox 46 News.
“While performing legitimate work duties, a CMS employee entered into a work agreement with a vendor prior to obtaining proper authorization," a district spokesperson told Fox 46 News. "The action resulted in the unauthorized release of confidential data."
The affected individuals were contacted by the district through e-mail.
"CMS has worked collaboratively with the vendor to ensure the sensitive information was destroyed and has taken measures to prevent any additional release of information," the spokesperson said.
