CHARLOTTE, NC (FOX 46 WJZY) - Charlotte singles are "Beating Cupid to the Punch" hours before Valentine's Day.
Carolinas Matchmaker hosted a mixer for 40's and 50's singles at The Oak Room in South End on Tuesday evening.
"It's so hard in today's age just to connect with people organically," Matchmaker Laurie Berzack said.
The event was designed to offer singles a face-to-face opportunity to mix and mingle in an age where online dating apps rule the scene.
"I'm kind of someone who thrives on a more organic connection," attendee Tina Sheets said. "So having the opportunity to meet someone in person, see if they're charismatic, see if they're funny, see if they have a great sense of humor -- those ultimately make them a lot more attractive than a picture I'd see online."
Girls outnumbered guys by a wide margin, which Carolinas Matchmaker said isn't always surprising.
"Women are more outgoing and more willing to do something like this and just put themselves out there" attendee Nicki Floyd said.
