Charlotte woman arrested on child abuse charges for second time

A Charlotte woman has been arrested by Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police after she allegedly used a belt to whip her ten-year-old daughter, leaving injuries to her face and back.

27-year-old Paulette Gibson has been charged with misdemeanor child abuse as a result.

According to the CMPD incident report FOX 46 obtained, the victim said the abuse happened at an unknown family member’s residence on N. Smallwood Place between August 23rd and August 24th of this year.

According to records, Gibson was arrested and charged with felony child abuse causing serious bodily injury in August of 2014.

She has also previously been arrested and charged for assault with a deadly weapon, and a domestic violence protective order violation.

Gibson’s bond on the current child abuse charge has been set at $2,000.

It is unknown who currently has custody of the victim.
