A Charlotte woman is using a 5-foot inflatable turkey to convince passersby to "gobble veggies, not turkeys" this holiday season.

Andrea Glassberg says she is spreading the spirit of compassion by sharing a holiday meal no one had to die for.

This is the first year Glassberg has displayed the turkey in her yard. She has been veg for 3 years (1 year vegetarian and 2 years vegan).

"I am vegan for the animals. The benefits of my health and the environment are wonderful bonuses," Glassberg said.

She is hoping people will at least stop and read the short message on the turkey and consider going "meatless" in the future, if not for the holiday.

"If people don't skip the turkey at Thanksgiving, maybe a seed will be planted and they will consider a meatless meal at another point in their life," Glassberg said.
