Chester County man charged with murder in deadly car shooting

A man is facing murder charges after authorities say he fired shots into a car early Thursday morning in Great Falls.

The shooting happened just after 1 a.m. outside an apartment in the 6300 block of Richburg Road. According to the Chester County Sheriff's Office, the suspect came running out of the apartment and began firing shots into the vehicle as it pulled up.

The driver of the car told authorities he managed to escape through the drivers side door and avoid gunfire. The passenger, 23-year-old Brandon Thomas Jones, was shot in the abdomen, but made it out of the car before collapsing on the driver's side, according to deputies. He died on scene.

The suspect, 25-year-old Stephen Andrew Collins, was charged with murder in connection to the shooting. He was taken into custody and transferred to the Chester County Detention Center.
