Chester County schools on lockdown after ATM theft

Three Chester County schools were on a partial lockdown Friday following the theft of an ATM from a nearby bank. The Lewisville elementary, middle and high schools kept students inside while police investigated.

Authorities say around 4 a.m. two suspects stole the entire ATM from a Founders Federal Credit Union branch. A short time later, authorities found the vehicle used in the crime but were unable to locate the suspects. As of Friday afternoon, the search was continuing in Richburg.

Law enforcement found all stolen items inside the suspects' vehicle.

Agencies including the Union County Sheriff's Office and state-run SLED were assisting the Chester County Sheriff's Office in their investigation.
