A Chesterfield man arrested and charged in February after kidnapping his step-daughter pled guilty Wednesday to criminal sexual conduct with a minor, according to a Deputy Solicitor of South Carolina.
Melton took his 14-year-old step-daughter out of state without her mother's permission. When she returned she revealed Melton had engaged her in a long-term sexual relationship, according to a Deputy Solicitor of South Carolina.
Melton was found in Oregon in February and arrested after a nationwide search.
The deputy solicitor states Melton pled guilty to criminal sexual conduct with a minor 2nd degree and two counts of assault and battery 2nd degree from an earlier case. He is facing a maximum sentence of 26 years on all charges. His sentencing is scheduled for a later date.
