City Council approves towing and booting ordinance

A proposed amendment to the towing and booting ordinance suggests that companies add additional information to their posted warnings in private parking lots was approved Monday night.

Officials say the signs should be changed to include the amount of fees charged for booting, towing, completed trespass towing and storage.

This comes after the North Carolina Supreme Court ruled that cities are unable to enforce fee provisions for towing companies.

The new changes would require towing companies credit and debit cards be accepted.
