City Council votes against rezone of VanLandingham Estate Inn property

Charlotte City Council has decided to vote against rezoning a portion of historic property in Plaza Midwood for new development.

The VanLandingham Estate Inn is a historic property in Charlotte's Plaza Midwood area.

On Monday, City Council voted to turn down a petition that would rezone a portion of the property the estate sits on to be developed into townhomes and a swim club.

While the petition would have kept the hotel and event facility operating, neighbors say it’s not something they want to see added to the unique feel of the Plaza Midwood neighborhood.
