CHARLOTTE, NC (FOX 46 WJZY) - The main campus of Carolina's Medical Center Emergency Department was placed on a brief 'restrictive access' Wednesday evening, police say.
According to a statement released by a hospital spokesperson, the hospital's operator received an anonymous call around 7:45 pm that someone in the emergency department was armed with a gun. Hospital security and CMPD responded and placed the ER on 'restrictive access' while an investigation was conducted.
Authorities concluded that this was a false call. The Emergency Department remained open and was receiving patients during this time, according to the spokesperson.
