CMPD holds community meeting for NoDa, Villa Heights residents

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police officers and residents in the NoDa and Villa Heights communities had productive conversations about policing Wednesday night.

About a half dozen officers interacted with concerned residents, talking about recent crime incidents and how to better relationships between officers and the public.

The meeting was specifically for people living and visiting in the Noda and Villa Heights areas.

The discussion comes after a shooting in the parking lot of a popular NoDa business complex and CMPD’s announcement of the city’s 76th homicide.

People at the meeting said it helped ease some concerns about crime.

CMPD said the department has been holding more police community meetings. This one was specifically advertised through the site, On The Table, which is the department's first meeting promoted through this community-based interactive site.
