CMPD investigating a homicide in Steele Creek

The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department is investigating a homicide in Steele Creek.

It happened in the 16500 block of Plantation Woods Drive in the River Pointe development near Lake Wylie. 

Police say they were responding to a welfare call around 3:45 p.m. Sunday when they located a male in his residence. Medic would later pronounce that man dead at the scene.

Right now police aren't releasing how the man died, but CMPD detectives are canvassing the neighborhood to see if there are any witnesses.

The man's identity has not been released as family members are still being notified.
