CMPD looking for suspect in string of armed robberies

Charlotte Mecklenburg Police are looking for a suspect that is believed to have been involved in a series of armed robberies.

Early Wednesday morning, August 19, around 2:15 a.m. the suspect went into the 7-Eleven off Tuckaseegee Road. The suspect made it known that he had a weapon and left the scene after robbing the gas station, according to CMPD.

A few minutes later officers responded to the County Inn and Suites off Queen City Drive in reference to an attempted armed robbery. Officers were told the suspect implied he had a weapon and tried to rob the business but ran off before taking anything.

Police say around 3:20 a.m. the suspect went into the Exxon Gas Station off Queen City Drive. He advised he had a weapon and demanded property from the gas station before leaving.

In each case the suspect is described as a male, approximately 5'10", and last seen wearing a red toboggan and white cloth over his face, according to police.

CMPD says at this time there is nothing that links these robberies to the Times Oil Gas Station or Food Lion robbery that happened earlier today as well.

Anyone with information concerning these cases or the suspect is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600.
