CMPD: Man charged in 2017 E. Charlotte murder

A man has been charged in a 2017 E. Charlotte murder, according to Charlotte Mecklenburg Police. 

Chrishna Fimbo, 19, has been charged with murder, attempted armed robbery and second degree kidnapping in a case stemming from October of last year. 

The victim, Preston Scott Coffey, 44, was found dead from an apparent gunshot wound inside of his business at 3100 block of Amity Ct around 11:15 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 24.

Information and evidence gathered during the investigation led officers to believe that Fimbo was suspect in this case.

CMPD officers obtained warrants against Fimbo who was being held at the Cleveland County Sheriff's Office on unrelated charges. 

Upon being interviewd by CMPD, Fimbo confessed to the murder. He was then taken back to the Cleveland County Jail.
