CMPD: Missing man with cognitive impairment found

UPDATE: 11/16/16: Mr. Taylor has been located in good health and has been reunited with his family, according to CMPD. 

Detectives with the Missing Persons Unit said they were able to locate Willie Taylor, an Alzheimer’s patient, through the utilization of Project Lifesaver International. 

CMPD has been a member of Project Lifesaver since July of 2015. Project Lifesaver is a non-profit organization that utilizes tracking technology to locate patients with cognitive issues that are prone to wander. 

Within 48 minutes of receiving the missing person call and arriving on scene, detectives and Independence Division Officers were able to locate Mr. Taylor, thanks to CMPD’s Project Lifesaver program.   


Charlotte-Mecklenburg police are asking for the public's help in locating a local missing man who suffers from a cognitive impairment. 

Willie Taylor, 66, was last seen at 1:45 p.m. at 7032 Wallace Road on Wednesday, November 16.

Police said Taylor suffers from a cognitive impairment and is believed to have left his home on foot. Taylor was last seen wearing blue jeans, white long sleeve shirt, a black baseball hat and glasses.
