CHARLOTTE, N.C. (FOX 46 CHARLOTTE) - This month’s CMPD officer of the month is Det. Keoshia Penny. She’s is being recognized for taking control of a dangerous situation that unfolded in east Charlotte.
“Well there was one officer who stood out in getting that dangerous situation under control,” Capt. Jackie Bryley said of Penny.
Gunfire erupted in the parking lot of the Family Dollar on Milton Road and three teens were shot in a drug deal. As Penny arrived on scene, chaos was breaking out.
“Her leadership stood out amongst everyone on the team,” Bryley said.
Penny quickly got the scene under control and put the three teens in custody, but for her, she wants no recognition for herself.
“We actually have her under direct order to be here because she didn't want to be individually recognized,” said Bryley.
“I mean it is rewarding to know that we were recognized what me and my other partners do,” Penny told FOX 46. “This one case just shows what we do on an everyday basis.”
Penny works hard to get results every day in the Charlotte community.
“It’s just one of those things where you know you want to help people, and this job allows you to do that every single day.”
