CHARLOTTE, NC (FOX 46 WJZY) - Charlotte-Mecklenburg police said they're increasing their patrols in south Charlotte due to a recent rash of home burglaries.
Officers said they're investigating four home burglaries that happened on Saturday morning within close proximity to each other. The burglaries were reported on E. Tremont Avenue, Maryland Avenue, Selwyn Avenue, and Closeburn Road.
In each case, the suspect gained entry by kicking in the back door.
On Saturday around 4:50 a.m., officers located a stolen 2017 Dodge Ram truck located in the 5500 block of Closeburn Road. The truck was unoccupied but the motor was running, according to police.
Officers located numerous items of value inside the truck. The property was believed to be the items that were stolen from the home burglaries. K-9 officers responded to the scene but the suspect was not located.
Charlotte-Mecklenburg police are asking residents to be vigilant and to report anything suspicious to 911. Anyone with additional information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at (704) 334-1600.
