CMPD: Suspects detained in uptown after driver fled police in stolen vehicle

Charlotte Mecklenburg police say multiple people have been detained in uptown after a driver fled police in a stolen vehicle.

Around 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 21, CMPD's aviation unit got a hit on a stolen car. The vehicle was located on the ground, and officers attempted to make a traffic stop, but the driver fled.

The Aviation unit followed it from the air until the suspects entered a parking deck near the intersection of South Kings Drive and Metropolitan Avenue.

A CMPD official says they have "a few subjects detained," but no arrests have been confirmed at this time.

Officers are still on scene investigating.
