CMS students must have vaccination shots by Thursday

CMS will begin enforcing a vaccination policy that will prevent some students from going to school, starting Thursday.

The school system said Tuesday was the last day students were allowed to attend classes without up-to-date vaccinations.

The district gave a 30 day grace period since the school year started for parents to get their child's vaccination shots updated.

Students will be pulled out of classrooms and sent home starting Thursday until they're vaccinated.

Health officials say parents should make appointments with their child's healthcare provider to avoid having the student sent home.

CMS says while students are not permitted to attend school without immunizations. The absences will not be considered a suspension. They can submit classwork and stay up to date on their academics.
