WILMINGTON, N.C. (AP) — The Coast Guard rescued two people from a boat taking on water off the North Carolina coast. No one was injured.
The Coast Guard said in a release Sunday that people aboard the 50-foot yacht Ticker Tape VI called for help shortly before midnight Saturday. The boat was disabled about 14 miles southeast of Wilmington.
The people were not identified.
A Coast Guard crew launched from Wrightsville Beach arrived on scene and took the two aboard about an hour later.
The flooded boat was left adrift with the navigation lights on. The owner plans to hire a salvage company to retrieve it.
