Cold weather causes water main breaks in the Queen City

The cold weather is relentless here and around the Queen City.  It's been causing some inconveniences for many in the area.
Charlotte Water crews have been working throughout the day to repair a water main break that shut down Hubbard Road-- just one of many.

The frigid forecast has been creating slick conditions for cars.
"I've seen a lot of water-- a lot of cars slipping," said nearby resident Barbara King.
Charlotte Water has been salting streets in an attempt to prevent additional problems.
"You are going to have problems like this in this kind of weather," said nearby resident Edward Cross.
Barriers are serving as roadblocks across the city as crews work to repair several roads impacted by water main breaks.

The issue is ongoing—but Charlotte Water typically responds to around 100 calls a week.  In these freezing temperatures, Charlotte Water does see an increase in emergency repairs
