A storm system is still expected to impact the FOX 46 viewing area this weekend.

There is still a lot of uncertainty as to how this system will shake out but here’s what looks most likely as of Wednesday morning:

Snow will likely start falling in the Mountain counties early Saturday morning.

The moisture will move into the piedmont by Saturday afternoon. Since temperatures will be around 40 degrees the precipitation type will likely start as rain or sleet.

During the overnight and early morning hours the chances for snow increases before switching back over to rain Saturday afternoon.

There appears to be a lull in the precipitation Sunday before another possible quick burst of snow flurries show up across parts of the viewing area Sunday night into Monday morning.

Having said that - models are *starting* to hint at the storm system to take a more northerly path.
If that were to happen it would be more of a rain event for the piedmont with much of the snow confined to the mountains and foothills.

This forecast will continue to change as we progress through the week.
