COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — A Columbia police officer has been reinstated after prosecutors determined he did nothing wrong in a fight at a nightclub earlier this year.
Multiple media outlets reported that prosecutors determined no criminal charges should be filed against Office Tyrone Pugh.
Pugh had been suspected after an investigation of a Jan. 18 incident recorded on video, appearing to show Pugh hitting a man he had on the ground after a party.
Police Chief Skip Holbrook released an investigation of the incident by the State law Enforcement Division.
Pugh had been disciplined following the incident. He was suspended without pay for two days for unnecessary force and unsatisfactory performance.
Another officer had a letter put in his personnel file for failure to complete the proper paperwork about the incident.
