CONCORD, N.C. (FOX 46 CHARLOTTE) - Santa's sleigh is prepared well in advance for an evening of adventure, but not everyone is as good at thinking ahead.
On Monday, FOX 46 caught up with some last minute shoppers at Concord Mills Mall who were braving the crowds to get what they’re loved ones wanted most.
“I’m a procrastinator and as you can see. I’m out here so I’ve got a lot of last min shopping to do,” Rick Stancil said.
These shoppers packed into Concord Mills on Christmas Eve, hoping to snag those last minute gifts in the nick of time.
“This year for some odd reason it snuck up on me the dates and times so I’m out here getting last minute stuff,” said Shenera Mackey.
“We're here to see Santa and we're here to catch a few last min sales,” Matt Kramer said. He was at the mall with his family on Monday.
“I still got to buy something for my dad and my mom,” a teen told FOX 46.
With bags in their hands, these shoppers were determined to find the perfect presents for their loved ones.
“I always put stuff off until last minute and I’m paying for it. It took forever to find a parking space and now I hope I can find what I’m looking for,” Stancil said,
“Friday was the worst day. I went Friday evening and it was crazy madness everywhere,” said Mackey.
But, the majority said the crowds today weren't even as bad as they anticipated.
“I was terrified of coming this morning because I knew it would be crazy, but its ok, it’s a good flow. I can work with this,” Mackey said.
And the smiles on the faces of the people on the receiving end make the wait until the last minute very much worth it.
“Just to see that smile and know you’re bringing joy to someone else,” she said.
