Concord woman in critical condition after being stabbed by husband

The Cabarrus County Sheriff's Office says a woman was stabbed by her husband in Concord on Thursday, just a day after deputies responded to a domestic disturbance call at the couple's home.

On Wednesday, Jan. 3, deputies were called to 7020 Merrymount Ct. in reference to a domestic disturbance. The call was placed by Anastacia Denise White-McFadden, 40. When deputies arrived, White-McFadden's husband, 43-year-old Kelsey McFadden had already left the property.

The Sheriff's Office says that it appeared that McFadden was gone for the evening, and there were no injury, assault or criminal violations to pursue at that time, so deputies left the home.

McFadden returned to the house around 4:30 a.m. on Thursday, which is when he attacked his wife. The couple's two children were home at the time.

Deputies were called back to the home by a neighbor and upon arrival found White-McFadden laying on the neighbor’s front porch with multiple stab wounds to the chest and abdomen.

She was taken to the Carolinas HealthCare System Northeast for treatment. She is still in the hospital in critical, but stable, condition after undergoing surgery.

Around 9:30 a.m., McFadden was found in Charlotte and arrested without incident. He has been charged with attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious bodily injury, and kidnapping.

He is currently being held at the Cabarrus County Detention Center under no bond.

“Domestic violence is serious and often tragic. It affects the entire family and extended community,” said Cabarrus County Sheriff Brad Riley. “Our thoughts are with all those affected by domestic violence.”
