CHARLOTTE, N.C. (FOX 46 CHARLOTTE) - Independence Boulevard was closed in both directions Monday morning after a car crashed into a utility pole in east Charlotte, officials said.
The wreck happened about 2:30 a.m. on east Indepence Boulevard and Sardis Road North.
Crews were out to fix the utility pole, which caused major traffic delays for the morning rush hour. Officials said would several hours before the road opened up.
Charlotte-Mecklenburg police are investigating the crash.
Motorists were advised to stay away from Indepence Boulevard and use Monroe Road as an alternate route.
