Crews battle apartment fire in Hickory

Flames ripped through an apartment complex for over four hours in Hickory early Sunday morning.

Around 5:30 a.m., fourteen fire departments, including Mountain View Fire and Hickory Fire, EMS, Red Cross and Hickory police responded to the fire at in the 2300 block of Mitchell Drive.

Crews are still on scene working to put out the fire.

Officials say apartment residents were able to get out safely.

Smokes and flames from the fire are visible from a nearby highway.
