Customers, business owner frustrated over Groupon offer

Buyer beware! There is a Groupon floating around the internet in the Charlotte area that is too good to be true. FOX 46 Charlotte wanted to find out how many of these offers are not true and who is tracking them?

Thousands of customers surf Groupon everyday, searching for the perfect deal on a variety of services.

Some of you may have even stumbled upon an offer recently for a front or rear brake repair for just $60.

"At $60 I believe there are a lot of people who are going to jump all over that deal," said Groupon user, Wayne Bland.

Bland tells FOX 46 Charlotte he did jump all over that offer, purchasing the Groupon in hopes of getting new brakes on his 2010 Hyundai Sonata.

But when he called to scheduled service......

"I was advised by the vendor that they are no longer honoring that Groupon and that he was not making any money," said Bland.

The owner of the auto repair shop off Old Concord Road told Bland he's already contacted Groupon about removing the offer, but FOX 46 Charlotte found that as of Tuesday night it was still listed.

In fact on Tuesday alone it was viewed more than 70 times. When FOX 46 Charlotte called the business, there was a recorded message which said: "If you are calling about the Groupon please listen clearly. I do not take the Groupon anymore."

Customers like Wayne Bland are frustrated with Groupon. He's still waiting for his $60 to be returned after calling three separate times.

"They are selling a service and selling a Groupon that is basically worthless," said Bland.

FOX 46 Charlotte reached out to Groupon Tuesday afternoon asking who is supposed to take Groupon offers down once they expire and if there is anyone tracking offers to make sure they are up to date. Groupon so far has not responded to our request.
